iPDM is an intelligent electronic power distributor with a cut-off function that ensures and manages the power supply for a scalable number of connected loads in the vehicle. It can also protect connect- ed lines against thermal overload.

What does a power distribution module do?

A power distribution module (PDM) is used to provide electrical power from a main power source to a variety of vehicle or equipment peripherals which may require the following: Compact form factors when reliability and safety are factors. Cost reduction challenges. High power electrical terminals.

Is there a recall on Nissan Ipdm?

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2006 ARMADA, TITAN, INFINITI QX56 AND MODEL YEAR 2005-2006 FRONTIER, PATHFINDER AND XTERRA VEHICLES. THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) ASSEMBLY CONTAINS AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) RELAY THAT HAS A DIODE FOR ELECTRICAL CURRENT NOISE REDUCTION.

What is an ECM relay?

What Is An ECM Power Relay? ECM stands for engine control module – the computer that makes your entire car function on its own. The ECM power relay monitors and delivers power to the ECM which in turn decides how virtually every other component in your engine runs.

Does Ipdm need programming?

There is no mention whatsoever of any programming requirements. The IPDM/er is basically a integrated fuse/relay array- it is not a “brain” per se As mentioned prior, just make sure the donor part matches yours.

What is a Ipdm module?

Nissan’s intelligent power distribution module (IPDM) offers a self-test sequence for the various loads it controls. This helpful function can simplify electrical diagnosis. A self-test controlled by a smart fuse panel may speed diagnosis of common electrical components on Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.

How do I uninstall Ipdm?

Remove the IPDM, reach behind the IPDM and squeeze the two tabs toward the front of the car and lift it from the bracket. Remove the IPDM cover, use a small flat head screwdriver and lightly pry the tabs up while you pull the cover away from it.

What is a PDM on a Freightliner?

Power Distribution Modules

The main PDM is located under the hood on the driver’s side above the fender. See Fig. 8.1 . The main PDM distributes battery power to the vehicle’s control modules, and contains the fuses required to protect the power feed circuits to these modules.

What happens when the ECM relay goes bad?

If the ECM or it’s relay fail, the entire engine management system will be left without power and will not function as a result. A bad relay may cause the vehicle to crank, but not start, or sometimes not even crank at all.

Where is the ECM power relay located?

The relay is located in the engine main fuse relay control box. The defective ECM-power relay is removed from the control box by pulling it straight up and out of socket. The new ECM-power relay is installed into the socket and the engine scanned for codes.
